12 questions about Senior Photography Sessions

Over the next 12 months I will be addressing each question in depth! But here are the short answers!

  1. Should I get senior photos?

Absolutely! Senior photos are a milestone moment in life.

  2. Why hire a professional?

A pro will know how to help you look your best with good lighting and posing

  3. When should senior pictures be taken?

Any time in the 4 seasons of the year you graduate

  4. Good spots for senior pictures near me?

Decide what type of look you love (Urban, Mountains, Fields & Flowers, Studio, Sport focused, somewhere special to you) and talk with your photographer about options in your area.

  5. How to look good for senior pictures?

Having help styling your session from a pro can help, but be true to yourself and your style, you want your senior photos to represent who you are now!

  6. Should I do studio or outdoor photos?

You can do both if you like! Studio leans into more simple classic, or high fashion while outdoor can be fashion or casual and represent your vibe through your surroundings.

  7. What should I wear to my photoshoot?

Wear what represents you best. What do you feel the best in, what style represents who you are? If you have multiple versions you do multiple outfits (ie sports uniforms, formalwear, super casual, a little dressy)

  8. Where can I get graduation announcements?

Ask your photographer if they design and print announcements, or if you love design create your own on Canva and find an online option to print that you love. You can also buy pre-designed cards online via Etsy or other websites.

  9. What’s the best season for Senior Pictures?

The season you love most! Don’t wait until two weeks before school’s out like everyone else. Pick the season that you love most, or do a 4 seasons session and represent each one!

  10. How many outfits should I bring?

2 or 3 clothing changes are great. More than 4 outfits gets busy and stressful

  11. Should I hire hair and makeup?

If you are confident and happy with your abilities with your hair and makeup do your own, just keep in mind makeup should be a little more than everyday wear for photos. If you struggle in getting your look right, hire a professional and feel like a star! Nothing like a little splurge to feel and look your best!

  12. Should I bring photo props?

If there are things that help tell your story absolutely! (ie instruments, letterman jackets, sports gear, SBO sweater/jacket, flowers, bicycles, art, etc….make it about who you are!)

Emily Julander

Owner – Newborn Specialist

I am a feisty, fun, driven artist with a fierce loyalty to family and friends. I love the Crossfit and the outdoors, but I balance that love with a love of ice cream and Netflix (everything needs balance). My job is the best job around and fabulous hubby and four kids are my biggest cheerleaders. I do all I do for them, just trying to get by like the rest of the world. I love Jesus, and find that love through the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I don’t like drama, public speaking or moody teenagers. That’s me in a nutshell…oh and cheese is the best part of life!
