When should Senior Photos be taken?

Simple answer: in any season of your Senior Year. Pick your favorite season, the one you love most, but make sure to book early!

When should I book senior photos?

The best time to book senior photos is in the summer after your junior year. This gives you plenty of time to find a photographer you like, book a date, and get your photos back in time for your yearbook and graduation announcements.

Here are some reasons why it's important to book your senior photos early:

  • Popular photographers book up quickly. If you wait until the spring of your senior year, right before graduation, you may find that your favorite photographer is already booked solid.

  • You'll have more time to choose your outfits and get your hair and makeup done. Senior photos are a big deal, so you want to make sure you look your best. Having more time to plan will help you feel more confident on the day of your shoot.

  • You'll have more time to get your photos back. Photographers typically take several weeks to process and edit senior photos. If you book your shoot early, you'll have your photos back in time for your yearbook and graduation announcements.

Here are some tips for finding a senior photographer:

  • Ask your friends and family for recommendations. They may know of a photographer who specializes in senior portraits.

  • Search online. There are many websites that list photographers in your area.

  • Look for photographers who have a portfolio of senior portraits. This will give you an idea of their style and whether their work is a good fit for you.

  • Schedule a consultation with a few photographers. This will give you a chance to meet them in person and ask questions about their process.

Here are some questions to ask when interviewing photographers:

  • What is your experience shooting senior portraits?

  • What is your style of photography?

  • What are your rates?

  • How long do your sessions typically last?

  • What do you include in your packages?

  • How long does it take you to process and edit photos?

Once you've found a photographer you like, book your session as soon as possible. This will ensure that you get the date and time you want.

Owner – Newborn Specialist

I am a feisty, fun, driven artist with a fierce loyalty to family and friends. I love the Crossfit and the outdoors, but I balance that love with a love of ice cream and Netflix (everything needs balance). My job is the best job around and fabulous hubby and four kids are my biggest cheerleaders. I do all I do for them, just trying to get by like the rest of the world. I love Jesus, and find that love through the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I don’t like drama, public speaking or moody teenagers. That’s me in a nutshell…oh and cheese is the best part of life!
